Ghazal Izadi
Chief Operating Officer, XGS Energy
2025 Entrepreneurship and/or Commercialization Award Winner
Dr. Ghazal Izadi is the Chief Operating Officer at XGS Energy, where she leads global operations, technology strategy, and the commercial scaling of the company’s breakthrough geothermal power solutions. With more than a decade of international experience across oil and gas, energy technology, and clean power, she is at the forefront of delivering scalable, dispatchable geothermal energy as a vital part of the future energy mix.
Prior to joining XGS in 2022, Izadi held senior technical and commercial leadership roles at Baker Hughes, where she managed reservoir services and technology deployment across North America, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia–Pacific. Her work spanned the entire energy value chain—from subsurface modeling and well design to surface facility integration—supporting both conventional and emerging energy systems.
At XGS, she brings this cross-sector expertise to commercialize the company’s proprietary thermal energy harvesting system, unlocking baseload geothermal power in regions once considered inaccessible.
Izadi’s contributions to the field have been recognized with the 2022 Geothermal Rising Henry J. Ramey, Jr. Reservoir Engineering Award, honoring outstanding achievement in subsurface geoscience and geothermal development, and she was recently named one of the 2025 Women of Influence by the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
Izadi holds a Ph.D. from Penn State University, with research focused on computational geomechanics, fluid transport in fractured media, and enhanced geothermal systems. She has authored over 40 technical publications and continues to be an active voice in energy innovation.
