Jennifer Clemons has spent her entire career working in education. She is an Associate Teaching Professor of Energy and Mineral Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, in the Energy and Sustainability Policy degree program. She is also a Co-Principal Investigator at CREATE, a national energy center funded by the National Science Foundation. The CREATE mission is to help produce the skilled technical workforce necessary to transition to a clean and renewable electricity sector. In this role, she is working to broaden the participation in energy careers to increase the number of women and underrepresented minorities in the energy field.
Recently, Clemons was the Department Chair of Energy Technologies at Delaware Technical Community College, where she oversaw the development of associate degree programs in Energy Management, Renewable Energy Solar, and Building Automation Systems. Clemons provided energy teacher workshops in 2019 and 2023, focusing on energy management and building automation, to help high school teachers embed energy lessons into their curriculum. In addition, she led study abroad courses to Denmark, Switzerland, and Japan.
Clemons has a PhD in Education Leadership from the University of Delaware and an MS in Energy and Geo-Environmental Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University. She is a Photovoltaic (Solar) Instructor, certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP).
