Melanie Santiago-Mosier is the Deputy Director at the Clean Energy Group, an organization that serves as a trusted source of technical expertise and independent analysis in support of communities, nonprofit advocates, and government leaders working on the frontlines of climate adaptation and the clean energy transition. She also serves as the Deputy Director for the Clean Energy States Alliance, a national, member-supported nonprofit that works with its members to develop and implement effective clean energy policies and programs. CESA’s members include many of the nation’s most innovative, successful, and influential implementers of clean energy policies. Before joining CEG and CESA in 2021, Santiago-Mosier was Managing Director for Access & Equity for Vote Solar, a leading non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to repowering the United States with clean energy by making solar power more accessible and affordable through effective policy advocacy. Her work for Vote Solar focused on implementing the organization’s vision for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. She managed Vote Solar’s work to build equitable partnerships with frontline communities; oversaw collaboration with those communities to design and advocate for programs that open up solar’s opportunities and benefits; and she coordinated the organization’s internal work to grow as an organization that welcomes and supports people from all races, genders, backgrounds, and identities. Santiago-Mosier has worked to advance clean energy policy for a over a decade. Prior to joining Vote Solar, she led the government affairs efforts for organizations such as the Maryland Public Service Commission and Washington Gas Energy Services, after serving as counsel and policy analyst for the Maryland General Assembly. She also served as a regional policy director for SunEdison. In 2015, she was named one of Maryland’s “Leading Women” by The Daily Record, Maryland’s premier business and legal news publication. In 2019, she was awarded a WRISE Honor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by Women in Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy. In 2020, she was named one of “Maryland’s Top 100 Women” by The Daily Record. Santiago-Mosier is an attorney licensed to practice law in Maryland. She holds her JD from the University of Maryland School of Law and her BA from St. John’s College.
