Melanie Santiago-Mosier is an energy and utilities expert working for a just and inclusive clean energy future. She is currently the Equitable Energy Transition Advisor at The Nature Conservancy, where she leads the work of embedding equity into the organization’s energy strategies and initiatives. Previously, she was the Vice President of Climate, Energy and Equity for the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative, leading efforts to equitably reduce greenhouse gas emissions by ensuring healthy, safe, and energy-efficient housing conditions. She has also served as Deputy Director of both the Clean Energy Group, which provides technical expertise and independent analysis to those working on the front lines of climate adaptation and the clean energy transition, and the Clean Energy States Alliance, which works with its members to develop and implement effective clean energy policies and programs. Santiago-Mosier’s climate equity career also includes five years at Vote Solar, a leading non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to repowering the United States with clean energy by making solar power more accessible and affordable through effective policy advocacy. During her tenure in Vote Solar’s Access and Equity Program, she rose from Program Director to Senior Director to Managing Director, focusing on implementing the organization’s vision for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. Prior to joining Vote Solar, she led the government affairs efforts for organizations such as the Maryland Public Service Commission and Washington Gas Energy Services, after serving as counsel and policy analyst for the Maryland General Assembly. She also served as a regional policy director for SunEdison. In 2015, she was named one of Maryland’s “Leading Women” by The Daily Record, Maryland’s premier business and legal news publication. In 2019, she was awarded a WRISE Honor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by Women in Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy. In 2020, she was named one of “Maryland’s Top 100 Women” by The Daily Record. Santiago-Mosier is an attorney licensed to practice law in Maryland. She holds a JD from the University of Maryland School of Law, a BA from St. John’s College, and a certificate in Diversity & Inclusion from Cornell University.
