Natalie Meyer leads the City of Bozeman’s climate and sustainability initiatives. She has developed innovative local and regional alliances to advance sustainability for residents and businesses. Through a collaborative partnership with the City’s investor-owned utility, she helped drive utility investments in renewable energy pilot projects in three Montana cities. She created the Bozeman Energy Project, which provides small business grants for energy efficiency and renewable energy upgrades. She has partnered to host dozens of community workshops and outreach events to help homeowners and contractors navigate on-site renewable energy and energy efficiency decisions. These programs earned Meyer a 2015 Innovator Award from Governor Steve Bullock in recognition of her clean energy leadership. In 2019, Meyer led the development of Bozeman’s first Climate Vulnerability Assessment & Resiliency Strategy, aimed at preparing the City for the impacts of climate change. She is currently leading the community engagement process to update Bozeman’s Climate Plan, a roadmap that will help the City achieve the ambitious goals of 100% net clean electricity by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050. Meyer serves on the Montana State University’s Campus Sustainability Advisory Council and is a board member of the Yellowstone–Teton Clean Cities program to help advance clean fuels and transportation electrification in the Greater Yellowstone region. Meyer earned a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Green Associate certificate and received an MS in Land Resources & Environmental Sciences at Montana State University, Bozeman.
