Tonja Wicks is the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for Elevate Renewables, a national renewable energy development company focused on strategically developing and deploying battery energy storage throughout the United States. She provides executive leadership, corporate strategy, and regulatory risk analyses.
Wicks has 20 years of experience in the energy industry developing regulatory, corporate, and political strategies for some of the largest electric, natural gas, and water corporations in the nation. Prior to joining Elevate Renewables, Wicks was the National Director of Regulatory Affairs for American Water. In that role, she developed regulatory strategies and policy advocacy around the nexus between the water and energy industries for American Water’s twelve regulated state operating subsidiaries.
Prior to joining American Water, Wicks held executive and managerial positions in the utility industry with Duquesne Light Company, NextEra Energy, Edison Electric Institute, and Williams Gas Pipeline Company. Her efforts focused on developing federal, regional, and state regulatory and legislative policy positions and directing advocacy efforts at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Congress, and the White House. Wicks was also Founder and Chief Executive Officer of TLW Legal and Government Support Services, a regulatory and government affairs consulting firm providing clients with regulatory engagement, advocacy, and risk mitigation strategies supporting renewable energy, electric, and natural gas deployment.
Wicks has an MBA from the American University Kogod School of Business, an MPP from Howard University, and a BA in Political Science, also from Howard University.
