Britt Ide

Britt E. Ide serves on the Board of Directors and the Audit and Governance & Innovation Committees of NorthWestern Energy. She is also President of Ide Energy & Strategy, where she consults on energy policy, strategy, and collaboration. Britt has over 25 years of experience as an engineering, legal, and business leader working on all sides of energy issues including with associations (American Gas Association, EPRI, Edison Electric Institute), industrial users (Boise Cascade), large commercial users (Albertsons), utilities (PacifiCorp, Idaho Power, Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, and Columbia Gas), non-governmental organizations, developers, and regulators. Her strengths as a board member include her strategic mindset toward company growth (especially in rapidly changing industries), her ability to comprehend detailed technical information in multiple disciplines, and her success working with senior management to pursue critical objectives. Her current nonprofit board service includes the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce and the Hotrock Energy Research Organization (furthering enhanced geothermal systems), and she is the Executive Director of the Yellowstone Club Community Foundation. Britt is also a National Association of Corporate Directors Board Leadership Fellow. Her board colleagues value Britt’s outstanding communication and consensus-building skills; she is an experienced facilitator of solutions and has a Certificate in Mediation from Harvard. Britt previously served as the outside Chair of the Board of Directors of PCS Edventures (OTC:PCS), a public company that sells experiential science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education tools. In addition to her board service, she was appointed by Governor Bullock to Montana’s Clean Power Plan Advisory Council. Britt is on the Fulbright Roster of Specialists and was an invited keynote speaker to Santiago, Chile, on corporate governance and energy. She holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering, an MS in Environmental Engineering, and a Juris Doctor.
