Christine Ervin has led innovative collaborations to accelerate green markets for nearly 30 years of leadership in public, private, and nonprofit roles. Through Christine Ervin Co., she serves as a public speaker, advisor, and consultant focusing on clean energy, climate change, the built environment, and green finance.
Prior to establishing her company, Ervin was the first President and Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). She led its evolution from a start-up organization to a highly influential coalition of industry leaders transforming the way buildings are designed, built, and operated in the United States and abroad. USGBC became home to the LEED standard and Greenbuild conference/expo, and Ervin received USGBC’s leadership award in 2004 and 2014. As Assistant Secretary of Energy for President Clinton, she directed $1 billion in annual investments for clean and renewable energy technologies. Her portfolio included research and deployment efforts across building, industrial, transportation, and utility/renewable energy sectors, as well as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Previously, Ervin directed the Oregon Department of Energy and conducted research at the Conservation Foundation.
Ervin has served on fiduciary and advisory boards for venture capital firms, start-up companies, national advocacy efforts, and sustainability standards programs. Recent examples include Glynt.ai, the Global Electronics Council, the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board’s founding technical review committee, and the American Council on Renewable Energy.
