Mari McClure

President and CEO, Green Mountain Power

Mari McClure is President and CEO of Green Mountain Power, an industry-leading clean energy company based in Colchester, Vermont that leverages pioneering innovation programs to reduce costs and carbon emissions while delivering cost-effective, reliable power to Vermonters.  Mari stepped into her current role at the start of 2020 after ten years with GMP leading transformational work across the company by building strong teams, balancing skills, and motivating employees to serve customers.  Since becoming GMP’s CEO, Mari has served as Chair of Vermont Governor Phil Scott’s Pandemic Employer and Technical Support Team, and GMP again earned a spot on Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list.  In March 2021, Mari was named one of Real Leaders Magazine Top 100 Women Impact Leaders for 2021 for delivering results that build a more sustainable future through transformational work using innovative products and services.  Also in February 2021, Mari was named one of the Top 10 Women in Energy by Energy Digital.

Under her leadership GMP’s power supply is now 100% carbon free, and the company is moving quickly to meet its commitment to provide Vermonters with 100% renewable power by 2030, well ahead of state targets and other utilities of GMP’s size.

Mari joined GMP in 2010, after working as a corporate lawyer in Burlington, Vermont. Mari earned her law degree from the University of Buffalo School of Law in 2006. She was also a member of the University’s women’s basketball team from 1997-2001.
