Session: An equitable clean energy revolution: Investing in disadvantaged communities 


Beginning on September 13, 2021, Melanie Santiago-Mosier (she/her) will serve as the Deputy Director of Clean Energy States Alliance and Clean Energy Group, where she will support the organizations’ efforts to strengthen and expand their role in advancing clean energy equity. As part of her work, she will support various projects including the Clean Energy Group’s Resilient Power Project and Phase-Out Peakers Initiative; and the Clean Energy States Alliance work on Scaling Up Solar, Solar with Justice, and the 100% Clean Energy Collaborative. Melanie has worked to advance clean energy policy for over a decade, and for the last five years focused on clean energy equity and justice as the leader of Vote Solar’s Access & Equity Program. She has led the government affairs and regulatory efforts for a variety of other organizations, including energy companies and governmental organizations such as the Maryland Public Service Commission. She is an attorney licensed to practice law in Maryland. Melanie holds her JD from the University of Maryland School of Law, and her BA from St. John’s College. In 2015, she was named one of Maryland’s “Leading Women” by The Daily Record, Maryland’s premier business and legal news publication. In 2018, she won the prestigious C3E Award for Clean Energy Advocacy. In 2019, she was awarded a WRISE Honor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In 2020, she was named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women Award by The Daily Record.
