Rhonda Jordan Antoine
Senior Energy Specialist, The World Bank
Rhonda Jordan Antoine has over 14 years of experience in energy and development. She is currently managing the World Bank energy portfolio in Tanzania and leading the implementation of the Regional Emergency Solar Power Intervention Project (RESPITE), which pilots innovative procurement and implementation arrangements to deploy grid-connected solar PV and battery storage technologies. Jordan Antoine also led the Bank’s Geospatial Electrification Planning in the Africa Region project, which has leveraged cutting-edge GIS analytics to inform World Bank energy engagements in 30 countries and underpin comprehensive electrification strategies and plans in 20 countries in Africa.
Jordan Antoine joined the Bank in 2013. Since then, she has worked in and provided support to various countries across the Middle East and North Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Africa regions in the areas of power sector planning, utility performance improvement, mini-grid regulation, solar home system deployment, transmission and distribution expansion, and variable renewable energy integration. Prior to joining the World Bank, Jordan Antoine worked for the United Nations Environment Programme on rural electrification in East Africa and co-founded and managed an energy services company that, for five years, provided electricity to households and small businesses in Tanzania lacking access to the central grid.
Jordan Antoine holds both BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from Columbia University, as well as a PhD in engineering systems from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is the recipient of the 2021 U.S Department of Energy Clean Energy Education and Empowerment International Award.
