The 2018 C3E Award Recipients

On December 4, 2018, we proudly presented the 2018 Clean Energy Education and Empowerment (C3E) Awards to eight mid-career women who have demonstrated leadership and high achievement in the field of clean energy. In addition, one woman was recognized as the C3E Lifetime Achievement Honoree for her long history of clean energy leadership: Elizabeth A. (Betsy) Moler, retired Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and Policy at Exelon, former Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, and former Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The Awards were part of the Seventh Annual U.S. C3E Women in Clean Energy Symposium hosted this year by Stanford Energy’s Precourt Institute for Energy, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), and the Texas A&M Energy Institute.

C3E Award winners are an impressive group of women who are making a difference in the field of clean energy. Women are accustomed to being in the minority in the energy sector, and their contributions are often overlooked. By recognizing the leadership and achievement of these outstanding women, C3E helps promote career advancement and inspire women of all ages to contribute to the clean energy field.

Learn more about the 2018 C3E Award recipients whose achievements include co-founding a company focused on energy and cold-chain infrastructure in Africa and India; distributing more than 31,000 clean energy products, such as clean cookstoves and solar lamps; and advocating for comprehensive solar programs that open up solar opportunities for the tens of millions of underserved households in the United States. The Awardees also have served as dedicated mentors to women of all ages.

The U.S. C3E program conducts a nationwide campaign for award nominations. The C3E Ambassadors—senior leaders who act as role models and advocates for women in clean energy—select the winners. The Symposium, Awards, Ambassadors, and community are the pillars of the U.S. C3E program.
